a new initiative The Community Cup

RCS has begun to investigate the viability of opening a coffee shop in the vacant storefront across the street from the church. Proceeds from the coffee shop would support RCS' outreach efforts and community kitchen. The hope for the coffee shop -- ''The Community Cup''-- is that it would be a spacious, comfortable place where neighbors, commuters -- and of course parishioners – could come for coffee and baked goods. The shop would be welcoming to people who want  to stay and socialize, work on their laptops, hold meetings, etc. And eventually we hope it would be home to community events, art exhibits, entertainment like poetry slams or concerts, evening church meetings and more. The volunteer committee is currently working on a business plan and we have initiated a conversation with the building's owner regarding the terms of a lease.
